fage -J- PLANNING BOARD MEETS The Board is working on the proposal to rent space to Stephanie Goetzinger for the wildlife rehabilitation center. It may be necessary to change some ordinances e.g. the one limiting the animals in Pine Knoll Shores to domestic pets. The Board decided not to take any action of establishing a uniform trash disposal container requirement. The permitted use charts will not be fina-lized until the revision of the zoning ordinance is complete. COMMUNITY APPEARANCE COMMISSION The Commission inspection report contained nine items. Other concerns were of Garner Park Landing in need of repair; debris on the right- of-way; and the placement of portable toilet facilities at building sites. The annual report was completed and sutmitted to the Board of Commissioners. oOo --------- LIBRARY COMMITTEE The Library Committee held its organizational meeting on March 28th. Diane Donovan was made Chairman of the Committee. It will be officially known as the Bogue Banks Library Relocation Committee. There are some representatives frcsn Emerald Isle and Salter Path but as yet there is no one from Atlantic Beach. The Committee has been meeting weekly and present plans call for presentation of the library relocation proposal to the various Town Boards on Bogue Banks. ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT COMMISSION HEARING Many residents attended the hearing regarding the proposal to allow emergency drain age of storm water to flow into the canal. Col. Dennison of Van Oesen Associates presented the plan which would have a turn off possiblity so that no water would run into the canal except at times of serious flooding. Several residents spoke, some in favor and some opposed. Hearing officer, Dr. Gladys Van Pelt, said that anyone wishing to suixnit material in writing to the commission should send it to Bill Kreutzberger, DEM, P.O.Box 27687, Raleigh, N. C. 27611 before May 7, 1988. An answer to the request for variance will be announced at the July or the September oGo FROM THE HISTORY If you read in the Shore Line a list of 22 names beginning with Bob Ames and ending with Milt Yaeck you would know that yes, indeed, there has been a project and all these^ guys had pitched into get it done. [There are even a couple of names missing]. Well, it was the Shore Line for March, 1977, and it listed the names of volunteers who "took their own tools to the proposed site of the new building and did much of the heavy clearing. This was the site for the new Town Hall which had been in the planning stages since 1976 and wasn't to be finished until 1979. The new Town, in 1973, began to do business in space donated by Ruth Bray in the Atlantis Lodge. By July, 1974, it had acquired the part of Mrs. Hoffman's house which
