Page -6- season. A secret ballot for preference resulted in 32 votes in favor of Morehead City and 22 votes for Jacksonville. Decisive, yes, but hardly extraordinary. In our opinion, the Ancient Mariners will pull together, give their full support, and enjoy to the utmost^k the competition and the relaxed social compatibility on whatever lanes they may select to congregate on Monday afternoons. Sincere and grateful thanks must be extended to Marty for her leadership and to Dot and Ellie for their sometimes thankless jobs of keeping track of all our doings, play records, statistics and financial matters without which we'd be in shambles. Hey, all bowlers, do enjoy your summer and y'all come back come Fall. JACK MORRIS --------- oOo --------- PINE KNOLL SHORES WOMEN'S CLUB The Pine Knoll Shores Women's Club will meet Friday, May 27, at 9:30 a.m. in the Town Hall. Stephanie Goetzinger, Outer Banks Wildlife Shelter, will speak on the rescue, handling and rehabilitation of injured animals. The Club's annual luncheon will be on Monday, June 13, at 12:00 noon, at Ottis' Restaurant, for reservations, which must be made by June 1, call Betti Condra, 247-6958. LOLA COUNCIL --------- oOo --------- FROM THE LIBRARY A series of films on Japan are being shown on the 1st and 3rd Fridays at 2:30 p.m. at the Aquarium. May 20th will feature a native Japanese, Mrs. Frank Rice, who will introduce the films and demonstrate the tea ceremony. She will also introduce the pro- grams on June 3 and 17. The final film on July 1st will be introduced by an economics professor from Carteret Community College. Titles are as follows; May 20; JAPAN: AN OVERVIEW and INVITATION TO TEA June 3; TOKYO FAMILY LIFE and, PRIMARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION IN JAPAN June 17: SKINKANSEN—SUPER EXPRESS and GARDENS OF JAPAN July 1: THE EMPEROR AND EMPRESS OF JAPAN, POLITICS IN JAPAN, and DEMOCRACY IN ACTION --------- oOo --------- FROM THE AQUARIUM Don't forget the films and slide shows every weekend at 11:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Saturday and 4:00 p.m. Sunday. Field Excursions and workshops are planned all through May and June. Call for information [247-4003] or consult the bulletin board at - the Town Hall or at the Aquarium. Volunteers are needed for the upcoming turtle nesting season to walk the beach for signs of nesting turtles. An organizational meeting will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday May 25th at the Aquarium.
