EMS SQUAD #65 On June 2, the Squad held its regular monthly meeting at Town Hall. The members that are attending the EMT-D class have one more class to complete and will test in August. Six squad members will be taking the NC EMT test Saturday, June 7. We wish them to pass. To help them prepare for the test, members will set up practice stations at Town Hall. Members received early reentry badges and permits to use in case of a hurricane or disaster evacuation and return. Rita Whalen, Malcolm Bone and Clyde McKeand helped at the first aid station for Kid Fest. Both ambulances have been inspected by OEMS and are certified for another year. Ted Lindblad will be installed as the new chief for the EMS on June 30. This is my last article as Chief. I just want all the residents of Pine Knoll Shores to know how much I have enjoyed being Chief of the Pine Knoll Shores Squad 65. I have always taken great pride in serving the town and served to the best of my ability. I will remain a dedicated and caring EMT-D member. When you call "911", I will still be there. Teddy Wimberley, Chief You will be seeing new faces on visits to Town Hall. Joanne Butler left in May to relocate back to New Jersey. Linda Brickhouse, from Atlantic Beach Town Hall, is taking her place at the front desk. Mary Lou Kay has decided to retire to have more time at home. Ronda Lambert, from Newport, will be taking her place as Office Assistant/Deputy Clerk. Emergency Evacuation Registration SAFE HAVEN is a service provided by Carteret General Hospital for residents who are bedridden and require special medical care or those who require special medical support which might not be available during time of emergencies, such as hurricane evacuation. In order to be eligible for this level of care the patient's personal physician must make all necessary arrangements with the hospital. Once that is established, and prior to the actual evacuation order, transportation can be provided by our Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Squad. A registry of residents of Pine Knoll Shores who require such care during these periods will be kept by the Emergency Preparedness Organization at Town Hall. The EMS Squad will need the name, address and phone number of anyone who might need their service, so that preliminary arrangements can be made. All transports will be arranged by contacting Ted Lindblad, EMS Chief (240-0580). For information, call Town Hall (247-4353). For local information about storm warnings^ tune to TV channels 7, 8, S, 10, and 12. Local radio stations to tune into are: WRHT 740AM WMBL 96.3FM WBTB/WTKF 1400AM/107.3FM WKQT Classy 103.3FM WRNS 95.1 FM WDLX 93.3FM from the PKS Police Department Several citizens recently reported calls from a man calling himself "David." He states that he is soliciting donations for all law enforcement organizations in North Carolina. If you receive a call of this nature, do not donate. Report it immediately to the police department. The residents of our town owe # debt of thanks to Teddy for her service to many residents of our town. She has served as chief of our EMS Squad for six years. During all that time, there were very few calls she did not answer. If you see Teddy, let her know how much you appreciate her caring and dedication.
