EXHIBITS DURING lULY; During July, the exhibits will be Donna Graff's Gouach paintings and Elaine Hompecshe's framed, pressed NEW BOOKS AT BOGUE BANKS; Two new juvenile books for young computer users are Home Page and World Wide Web. Last Gift of Time:Life Beyond Sixty is a requested autobiograpy of author Carolyn Heilbrun which is now available. New selections for summer reading pleasure are Pretend You don't See Her by favorite author Mary Higgins Clark and Ashworth Hall by Anne Perry, author of mysteries set in the Victorian times. CHILDREN'S PRESCHOOL STORYTIME; The storytime for preschoolers is each Monday at 10:30. During the Summer Reading Program, the Preschool Storytime will be a part of the events scheduled for 10:30 each Monday. Preschool Storytime will resume its regular program on Monday, August 11th. North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores Looking for something you can ac^a'^RI^S really sink your teeth into? Well, the aquarium has just the thing. Two new summer program series will feature some of our area's most mysterious and interesting creatures. Each Tuesday will be Shark Day and each Thursday will be Reptile Day. Day-long activities will highlight these animals and it's all free. On Tuesdays, little-know facts about sharks, skates and rays will be explored in videos, films, programs and crafts. Learning stations and discovery carts will feature hands-on natural relics, such as shark jaws and skin, egg cases, stingray barbs, life-like mounts and other relics. On Thursdays, the focus will switch to reptiles, such as fresh and saltwater turtles, alligators and snakes. Natural relics will include turtle shells. snake skins, alligator skulls, mounted specimens and live animals. Another new program getting underway this season is "The Tooth About Fossils." Visitors can dig into the aquarium's new fossil site and learn about animals that lived in the ocean thousands of years ago. Exhibits, hand-outs and booklets will be available, and staff members will be on hand to help identify finds. The program is free, but advance registration is required. Call the aquarium for dates and times. If you have youngsters at home, or little folks who visit, you can get their day off to an invigorating start with the aquarium's new, "Breakfast With the Animals." Youngsters will help an aquarium staff member prepare the morning menu and feed the animals in the touch tank,. After the animals are fed, the helpers will get to nibble on breakfast goodies provided by the aquarium. The program is free and set for 8:30 a.m. on July 3, 17, and 31, and on August 14 and 21. Advance registration is required. The aquarium is now operating on its summer schedule from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. For a list of summer activities, stop by and pick up a calendar of events, or call 247-4003 Be Alert: The Delu family on White Ash Drive rushed their two dogs to the hospital on Sunday, June 15. Laboratory tests showed they had been poisoned. The family urges everyone with children and animals to be on the alert. The animals received large amounts of a poison which causes bleeding and eventually death. Special coagulating drugs from the Carteret Memorial Hospital were used. If a child had gotten any of this in their systems, it could have caused a very painful death. Mr. and Mrs. Delu are offering a $1,000. reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.
