This trip includes transportation from PKS, 2 nights accommodations, full breakfast daily, a buffet lunch and admission to the Biltmore House for both a daytime tour and the Candlelight tour. This is a very popular tour so make your reservations early by calling Edy Renee Magel, Trip Coordinator, at 240-0899. Accent Travel returns a portion of its proceeds back to us for use in our scholarship fund. At this time, we have sponsored one adult female student who is continuing next year and there is $500 set aside with Carteret Community College for another recipient who will be chosen in June. During the summer, remember to save Pak-a-Sak receipts for the Arts Council, as well as our ongoing collections of toiletries for Domestic Violence and prescription medications for the Broad St. Clinic. And join us again in September for another worthwhile year of community involvement. For any questions about the new year or membership in the club, please call Marian Goetzinger at 726-9879. Submitted by Jeanne Mays, Publicity Hurricane Evacuation Safe Haven Safe Haven is a service provided by Carteret General Hospital for residents who are bedridden and require special medical care or those who require special medical support, which might not be available during time emergencies, such as hurricane evacuation. In order to be eligible for this level of care the patient's personal physician must make all necessary arrangements with the hospital. Once that is established, and prior to the actual evacuation order, transportation can be provided by our Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Squad. A registry of residents of Pine Knoll Shores who require such care during these periods will be kept by the Emergency Preparedness Organization at Town Hall. The EMS Squad will need the name, address and phone number of anyone who might need their service, so that preliminary arrangements can be made. All transports will be arranged by contacting Marilyn Smetana, EMS Chief (808-3374). For information, call Town Hall (247-4353). Hurricane Evacuation Evacuation will be announced simultaneously by all Bogue Banks communities 18 to 24 hours before anticipate landfall. Evacuation up to 75 miles or more inland is recommended. ✓ All persons located in Pine Knoll Shores will evacuate East onto Route 58, via the Atlantic Beach high-rise bridge. Egress onto Route 58 from the North can only be made from Pine Knoll Blvd. and Oakleaf Drive, Mimosa Blvd., Coral Drive, and Murex Drive. Road blocks will be set up within a minimum of six (6) hours or before sunset the day of evacuation, or sooner, if necessary. A curfew may be imposed by the Mayor/Town Board. Full cooperation is mandatory on everyone's part. People without valid reasons to be out are subject to being cited and escorted home. Carry your re-entry pass with you for identification. ✓ ✓ If you stay - YOU MUST STAY WITHIN THE CONFINES OF YOUR PROPERTY. Emergency Management
