Page 8 The Shoreline March, 2001 MEET YOUR NEW NEIGHBORS: Mr. James Bailey Sr., has completely renovated Gen. Gustavfson's old house at 204 Oakleaf Drive and moved in shortly before Christmas. He is not a stranger to PKS having lived here on and off since 1980, but he has never been written up in our Shoreline and tis time to introduce this lovely gentleman. Most of his time is spent in Raleigh where he has two businesses, the James Bailey Trucking firm and a sawmill, so his permanent residence is in Raleigh-but he spends as much time as possible here. Mr. Bailey was born on a farm outside Raleigh and began his trucking firm as soon as possible to get away from "milking cows." He has three sons whom all live in or around Raleigh. James Jr. is married to Rita and they have two girls and a boy. Wayne is married to Teri and they have 5 sons and Craig is married to Lisa and they have two girls and a boy. They are also in business with dad. Mr. Bailey loves to fish. The walls are covered with his trophies. Gorgeous Sailfish and many others are mounted beautifully. While interviewing him, son Wayne and wife were there with their 5 boys age 12 to 4. So well behaved and typical boys wanting Grandpa to take them fishing and crabbing so I moved on so they could get on with "their fishy business." We also hope to hear from one or more county commissioners and possibly Representative Jean Preston (this has not yet been arranged). The precinct meeting is free. At the county convention, county GOP officers and delegates to the 3’'*^ Congressional district and state conventions will be elected. As part of the convention, there will also be a buffet lunch (cold meat tray, pasta salad, garnish tray, dessert, iced tea and coffee). The featured speaker at the lunch will be State Supreme Court Justice Robert Orr (a supporter of Government retiree and intangibles tax refunds). Cost to attend the county convention is $10 per person. The state convention will be in Raleigh on May 18 to 20, at which state GOP officers will be elected. The 3rd Congressional district convention, at which district officers will be elected, will be sometime after redistricting is completed (my best guess is Oct. or Nov.).
