All of the candidates were present— mayoral candidates Ken Jones and Ted Lindblad and the four candidates seeking to fill the three available seats on the board of commissioners; Larry Kacmarcik, Doug Browne, Larry Corsello and John Halada. The format of the L WV forum utilized the following pattern. Citizens were encouraged to write their questions as they arrived at town hall. Members of LWV read these questions to consolidate duplicates and ensure the questions did not violate established fairness guidelines. At 7 p.m., the LWV moderator began the forum by describing the evening's program. First, each candidate was given a designated time to introduce himself and describe his qualifications. Next, the moderator presented as many of the submitted questions to each of the candidates as time allowed. To conclude the program, each candidate presented a summary statement. To ensure as much fairness as possible, the order of candidate responses was rotated. The program was scheduled to close at 9 p.m. Throughout the evening, a total of 11 questions were presented. The topics addressed by the questions included: • Identification of the major issues facing the town. • Possibility of paid parking at public beach accesses. • Potential future involvement of the town in the Country Club of the Crystal Coast. • Modification of the current practice of off-duty police taking cruisers home each day. • Description of candidate's leadership style. • Candidates' recusing themselves when dealing with an issue involving their homeowner association. • Position on static line and rebuilding after significant weather event. • Beach renourishment and viability of inter costal agreement. • Retention of high-quality PKS EMT professionals. Time did not permit other submitted questions to be presented to the candidates, but the moderator did read them prior to asking each candidate to give their closing statement. The program concluded at the scheduled. time; however, many lingered to have individual questions and concerns addressed by the candidates. u www.coastalmulch.com Palm Trees - Red Mulch Gold Mulch - Harwood Mulch - Pine Straw River Rock - Brick Chips Topsoil and MORE!
