BHAFaU Each fall, the Beaufort Historical Associa tion brings together the elegance of a beautiful home, exquisite artwork by a selected featured artist, delectable food and great music to create an atmosphere like no other for their annual Fall Fundraising Party. This year, guests should expect nothing less as the c.1728 Duncan House, home of Bill and Deborah Tuttle, serves as the venue for this event. The house, which had been in the Duncan family for over 200 years, was recently renovated by previous owners Hubie and Alice Tolson and Kay and Eddie Coleman, for which Coleman received the Sir Walter Raleigh and Capital Area Preservation awairds. The home was purchased by the Tuttles in the summer of 2012 and they have since made minor restorations, taking care to keep true to the homes historical character. On Saturday, October 19, beginning at 6:30 pm, the Duncan House, 105 Front Street in Beaufort, will be open to guests as they enjoy gourmet food provided by Beaufort Grocery Company, the art of Trisha Adams and live music by the Ginger Thompson Band. Artist Trisha Adams comes to Beaufort from Leesburg, Virginia. She graduated magna cum laude from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri, with a degree in psychology, but it was her work as editor of the college yearbook that sparked her choice of vocation. She spent a number of years in advertising, desktop pub lishing and electronic prepress before beginning to paint in 2001. By 2004, she was painting fulftime. Adams is a member of the 100-year-old Washington Society of Landscape Painters, and is no stranger to Beaufort, having been the featured artist for the 2010 Beaufort Wine and Food Event. Adams calls her style “contemporary impressionist,” representational, with a dash of abstraction. Bold color and a variety of subjects from landscapes, portraits and still life make up the majority of her impressive body of work. Trishas paintings are in prominent collections, including the Virginia State Senate; the town of Leesburg, Virginia; the Ritz Carlton in Tysons Corner, Virginia; and the Winchester (Virginia) Medical Center. In addition, guests will be treated to the music of the Ginger Thompson Band, returning for a second year as the featured musical act for this event. For years. Ginger Thompson and her bands were among the most popular dance and concert groups in the area, and played dates from upper New York State to Florida on a full time basis before taking a long-needed break. Under the guidance of businessman/ band leader/keyboardist/bass player Richard Cobb, the Ginger Thompson Band has reemerged and is taking up where it left off. The groups music features soul, beach, R&B, pop and standards and, paired with its uncanny ability to go from fast moving and up-tempo to soft and tender as the occasion demands, has won audiences over again and again. With artwork, music and food that go above and beyond, all set against the stunning waterfront views of the historic Duncan House, this will be an evening Schedule a free annuity review today.
