August 19, 1946 THE MILL WHISTLE Seven General Office Girls Defeat Karastan 15“8 The girls’ softball team from the Gen eral Office defeated the Karastan girls 15-8 in a spirited game at the Recrea tion Park, Spray, Wednesday evening, August 7. Nowlin went the distance for General Office limiting the losers to eight hits. Heavy hitting by Balser and Collins contributed to the victory. Gro gan starred in the field for General Office. Home runs by Wilson and Price pro vided the thrills for Karastan rooters. Third baseman Sapp and Pitcher New- nam got two hits each for Karastan. Dent, first baseman, was outstanding in the field and scored three of the Kar astan runs. Umpires were John Geer, Jimmie Bondurant, and Jesse McKinney.
