Surprising Speed Is Shown By Oldsters Teams from the Blanket and Sheeting mills met in their annual Slow Pitch softball series recently with the Blanket Mill taking the victory in each game. In the first game, played on a “muddy field,” the Blanket Mill was on the long end of the 27-7 score. In the second en counter two weeks later the Blanket Mill won, but by a closer margin, 21-9. Hits were plentiful as members of each team showed their stuff at the plate. Fielding sometimes was not as ex pert as the batting. Some of the antics in the field and the running of some of the older players delighted the fans. Some of the oldsters showed surpris ing speed and energy, proving they are still young enough to play a good game. Team managers were Harold Gerring er, Sheeting, and “Wick” Overby, Blanket. Main pitchers used were Nor man Law for the Blanket Mill and Bill Page, Sheeting Mill. BLANKET MILL—Kneeling George Overby.
