Teams from the Blanket and Sheeting
mills met in their annual Slow Pitch
softball series recently with the Blanket
Mill taking the victory in each game.
In the first game, played on a “muddy
field,” the Blanket Mill was on the long
end of the 27-7 score. In the second en
counter two weeks later the Blanket
Mill won, but by a closer margin, 21-9.
Hits were plentiful as members of
each team showed their stuff at the
plate. Fielding sometimes was not as ex
pert as the batting. Some of the antics
in the field and the running of some of
the older players delighted the fans.
Some of the oldsters showed surpris
ing speed and energy, proving they are
still young enough to play a good game.
Team managers were Harold Gerring
er, Sheeting, and “Wick” Overby,
Blanket. Main pitchers used were Nor
man Law for the Blanket Mill and Bill
Page, Sheeting Mill.
