Mrs. Fred W. Klein (shown on springboard) gives swimming instruction to Tri-City Brownie Scouts during annual day camp- Brownie Scouts Enjoy Annual Day Camp Brownie Scouts from Leaksville, Spray and Drap er participated in the annual day camp sponsored by District 7 of the North Carolina Piedmont Girl Scout Council. The camp was held at Camp Pine-A-Way, located just off Highway 14 in the general vicinity of the hospital on a 35-acre camping area made available to the Girl Scouts by Fieldcrest Mills. This year, the local day camp was for Brownies only since the day camp for Intermediate Girl Scouts was conducted at Camp Chinquapin near Reidsville- The Brownies received swimming instruction each day at the Draper pool. The well-rounded camp program included crafts, na ture study, cooking out of doors, singing, folk dancing and other activities. Instruc tion was given in first aid and in photography. A large percentage of the Brownies were from Field- crest-connected families and several of the staff members were wives of Fieldcresters.
