An electric eye attachment detects any variation in the outside diameter of the insulated wire and indicates it on a meter. The wire, which has received periodic quality testing throughout the operations, is now ready for a final check on the spark tester, a machine which detects any faults in in sulation. This machine also performs the packaging opera tions. Here, the completed wire is quality checked by lots and is then ready to go into the supply room for issue to the shuttle winders. Establishment of the new wire making section is a part of Fieldcrest’s continuing program of improvements for the purpose of making top quality products at the lowest possible cost.
