Fieldcrest Officials Hold Get-Acquainted Meetings With Employees At New Plants Officials of Fieldcrest Mills, Inc., held 3 series of get-acquainted meetings .July " and 13 with employees at the three ^ills purchased from Erlanger Mills Corporation. Fieldcrest purchased the North Caro- ina Finishing Company at Salisbury, he Alexander Mill at Forest City and ® Leward Mill at Worthville in a sale ™hich became effective .June 29. Taking part in the meetings were 'resident Harold W. Whitcomb, R. A. ^arris, vice president, manufacturing; R. Roberts, vice president, finance; ■ J. Frank, director of industrial rela- >ons; R. c. Going, general superintend- ^t, greige sheeting; Norman F. Young, ^^sistant manager, blanket operations. Accompanying them at the North Car- lina Finishing Company were Julian H. obertson, president of the Erlanger ^ills Corporation, and James H. Riddle, president of the North •wishing Company division. Carolina Mr. Robertson also accompanied the group on their visit to Forest City and Worthville. At the Alexander Mill they were joined by M. G. Allen, superin tendent, and Howard Hamrick, office manager; and at the Leward Mill by Ed ward Fowler, superintendent. At each meeting, Mr. Whitcomb ad dressed the employees, telling them why Fieldcrest was interested in purchasing the plant and discussing plans for that particular plant. Mr. Robertson, in his talks, told why the Erlanger Mills Corporation wanted to sell to Fieldcrest. When the decision to sell the properties was made, he said, “Fieldcrest was our first choice. We negotiated with no other company. This sale will be good for the company and good for you.” In addition to meeting with the em ployees, the Fieldcrest officials met with community and business leaders in each location.
