DEAR DEBBIE: My husband is upset because he's losing his hair. I have to tell you the truth — it bothers me too. He is only 36 and he just doesn't look like the same man 1 married. I am very sympathetic. My heart goes out to him because I know he feels an impor tant part of his identity is disappearing, yet I can't seem to comfort him. I think this is because he senses how 1 really feel. It is affecting me almost as much as it does him. When we make love I pre tend he still has all his hair. Sometimes I even picture another man in his place. How can I learn up I will be forced into early retirement, and with social security up in the air I can't afford it. Should 1 tell his wife'.' STUMPED STENO MR. & MRS. GUY M. GILLESPIE to disguise my feelings so I don’t hurt him? SUFFERING DEAR SUFFERING: The real issue here is that you can't be suppor tive during what your husband views as a crisis in hi-s life. Many men look sexier when bald, but,as long as you prefer the im age to the actual man you will be hurting him and jeopardizing your mar riage, I think you may need professional help to sort out your true feelings about your husband. Anniversary Celebrated Mr. and Mrs. Guy M. Gillespie of Rt. 2, Mooresboro, were honored with a Golden Wedding Anniversary reception on August 3th, at the Trinity Community Building. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bishop, daughter and son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Gillespie, were host. The guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Bishop and Mike Bishop and received by Mr. and Mrs. Gillespie and members of their wedding party, Rev. and Mrs. E.B. Hicks, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Condrey, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Jenkins, Mr. and Mrs. F.A. Lovelace, Mr, and Mrs. E.C. McKinnev and Mrs. Drannon Hollifield. Mrs, Selma Harris and Mrs. Hayes Bishop received and displayed the gifts. The gift table was covered with a yellow cloth with a lace overlay, A center piece of yellow daisies and mums adorned the gift table. A four tiered cake decorated with sugar bells, golden rings and a 50th anniversary ornament on top was served along with punch, vegetable sandwiches, cheese straws, sausage buscutis, mixed nuts and mints. Crystal and gold appointments were used on a table covered with a yellow cloth with a lace overlay with a center piece of yellow daisies, mums and candles. Mrs. Marion Scruggs, Mrs. Cleatus Hunsinger, Mrs. Jim McKinney, Mrs. Glenn Daves, Mrs. Jerry Condrey, and Miss Shelia Bishop assisted with the refreshments. Mrs. Dean Dobbins provided wedding music during the reception. Mr. and Mrs, Guy Ramsey said the good bys to the 140 guests that were present. Mrs. Edward Bailey presided at the register. DEAR DEBBIE: I am really galled. I have been working for one man for 20 years. It is a one-girl office and I have always managed to run things smoothly. Recent ly he told me I needed an “assistant.” So he brings in this 18-year-old bomb shell with her tight clothes and glossy lipstick whom he is ob viously having an affair with. That’s his business, but the girl is so inept and so unpleasant that she is simply creating more work for me. What’s worse is that when he disappears with her for three or four hours every day. I'm supposed to tell his wife that he’s out do ing “research” when she calls, I happen to know which motel they do their “research” in, and that’s what I have half a mind to tell his wife. If this keeps DEAR DAD: Your wife is your son’s parent too, and the deci sion on how to handle it should be made by both of you, I would explain to your son that as long as he lives under your roof he must abide by certain rules, and not bringing his girlfriend home to sleep is one of them. Listen to your son’s views respectfully, I am sure he will respond in kind to the loving and caring he has received from you and your wife. This is the kind of i^ace vdiere you can find yoursdf. The best remedy for relief from bee-sting pain is .aspirin and water, rubbed right onto the sting. An im mediate soothing effect occurs from evaporative cool ing. and inflammation is reduced from local absorption of aspirin at the sting site. For best results, rub a paste made from a crushed aspirin tablet and a little water directly on the sting. HOME e AME BY VIRGINIA TRUAX DEAR STUMPED: No. If he wants you to tell people he’s doing re search, it’s your job to do so as long as he pays your salary. The only part of this affair that concerns you is the fact that your “assistant” is creating more work for you. I’m sure a frank discussion with your boss about this will rectify the situation Is there any chance that heroin will become a legal treatment for those with terminal illness? — J.M. Possibly. A double-blind trial of heroin versus mor phine was recently completed in 48 cancer patients who had moderate, severe pain. The patients rated heroin 2'A times more potent than morphine when the secret code was broken at the end of the study. The doctors also noted that morphine and heroin had the same rate of addiction. DEAR DEBBIE: Our son is 17 years old. Last week, instead of tak ing his girlfriend home after a date, he brought her to his room and I could hear them making love. My wife doesn’t know. He is our only child. We have always been open with him about sex but I don’t know how to deal with this. He doesn’t know I know. I’m not asking you if I should put up with it, because I have already decided that the situation is in tolerable to me and must stop. My questions are: Should I tell my wife? And how can I/we handle this so as not to alienate our son? DAD My son has epilepsy and has been taking medication for over five years. His doctor says that he can expect to stay on the medication for the rest of his life. Is there no alternative? — C.D. IHEIR FINEST HOUR — Do let melons and peaches come to room temperature before serving if you want to capture their peak flavor. LI n LE DEVILS — To keep those slippery deviled eggs from careening around the serving plate, cut the tiniest slice off each egg bottom before stuffing. Everything will stay in its place rather than someo*'o'c lap. ooooooooooooooooooooo GlamcurTalk tty Why not look softly romantic after a swim? Make a loose chignon at the top of your head and weave a ribbon through it, or maybe a flower. Then let your hair dry naturally in the sun. ooooooooooooooooo A new study of 300,000 epileptic children suggests that youngsters who have been symptom free for the past four years while taking medication may safely discontinue anticonvulsant therapy.
