PAGE 4 THE BELLES DECEMBER 1984 ^POR Swimming SWIM MEET AS REPORTED BY COACH KNOTT Going into the finai event tied 66-66 with Reiffer College, the 200 yard Freestyle Relay team (Noelle Guri, Susan Cresswell, Carson Raugh, Chris Beetham) won by .15 of a second to anchor St. Mary’s only home swim meet 73-66 on November 7. Noelle Hicklin's 3 meter diving score of 240.7 came within 8 points of a Na tional Qualifying score for the NCAA Division III Colleges. Noelle also won first place in 1 meter diving, and swam anchor on the 200 yard Medley Relay team (Chris Beetham, Anna Hardison, Noelle Guri, Noelle Hicklin). Carson Raugh, stu dent coach, placed first in the 100 yard Individual Medley, 50 yard ■ butterfly, 200 yard free style relay, and second in the 100 yard freestyle. Chris Beetham swam on both first place relays, breezed to an easy win in the 100 yard backstroke. and took second place in the 200 yard Individual Medley. Susan Cresswell swam on the winning 200 yard freestyle relay and took seconds in the 500 yard freestyle and the 200 yard freestyle. Noelle Guri swam in both winning relays and placed second in the 50 yard freestyle. Judy Crook swam second in the 500 backstroke and third in the 100 yard fly and 100 yard back- stroke. Other St. Mary’s team members placing in events are Anne Maury, Anna Hardison, Lesiie Clay, Anne Martin, Emma Kaufman, Kristen McKenna (diver), and Lee Thurmond (diver). Kathy Keel served as Meet Manager, Alice Hemingway as diving referee, Kate Caudler and Ellen Baumgardner and scorers. Mr. Kraemer officiated as starter, stroke and turn judge, dive judge and referee. St. Mary’s students volunteered as timers, ‘go-phers’, and finishing judges. In addition, Jill Hooper, team manager, helped judge 1 meter diving. Remaining meets are November 15 at Randolf-Macon Women’s College in Lynchburg, Virginia, November 27 at Pfeiffer, and December 6 at Ravenscroft.
