Wood split the uprights for the extra point and Mars Hill had the lead which they never relinquished. Sluder added the other touch down late in the second period. The rangy back snagged a Lees- McRae aerial on the Lions and threaded the left bounds marker for 76 thrilling yards to cross the goal line standing up for six more points. Again, Wood place-kicked the extra marker and the scoring story of the game was over.
