Page Two, THE HILLTOP, Friday, September Editorial The constitution allows media bodifes, Freedom of The Press. This grants the press the right to receive, formulate and dispense the news as it sees fit. There are few, if any, restrictions (except National Defense) that the press encounters, and more often than not, the press takes ad vantage of its “Free Hand” in the ma nipulation of society. We, as editors of the HILLTOP, have been granted the right to convey the news to the students, in basically the same way as the press throughout the country. We do, however, have guide- ines and restrictions which enable us to carry a message while insuring the at mosphere of a Christian institution. We will not evade controversy or pad a story for the sake of someone’s feelings or reputation, but will show reasonable dis cretion in the application of our ap pointed jobs. The paper is here as an in strument of communication, whether the message be good or bad. We hope that the student body and faculty realize the purpose of a newspaper and partici pate in its growth. We are looking for ward to publishing the issues that affect our lives as well as those insignificant in serts that bring a smile to our faces. On a final note, we encourage correspondence between you, the members of our college community, and us, the editors of the HILLTOP.
