The primary is near; the cam paign is coming to a close. I have tried to make a clean fight against all three of my opponents. 1 HAVE PLED GED MYSELF TO THE PEOPEL IF NOMINATED AND ELECTED WHERE I STAND. That is more than I have seen or heard of either of my three opponents. Some of the politicians of Halifax County have tried by unfair methods to defeat me. But I would much rather be defeated in a clean campaign than to be nominated by some unfair meth od. IT WAS SUGGESTED TO ME LAST WEEK THAT IF I WOULD WITHDRAW FROM THE RACE ... mum. «. ». »- .«. « «»«»«»*» * • a THERE WOULD NOT BE A CAN DIDATE AGAINST ME IN THE 1932 ELECTION, IF I SHOULD WANT TO BE A CANDIDATE. I have the grit and courage to take defeat as I do victory. I will al ways go to the people with my fight, not line up with the so-called ring. I am glad the people can vote like they want to, and that no one will know how they voted. 1 leave it to the men and women to say by their votes June 7th, who will represent them. I was informed by E. L. Travis, Jr., chairman of the Board of Elections of Halifax County, that our present Coroner, W. C. Williams, of Rose mary, asked him to try and get D. Mac Johnson and me to withdraw from the race, but Mr. Williams was informed by Mr. Travis that it could not be done. ^_ TWTTVTTTtTTTT • 4 1 44444t»»»»»4i4«»44444l4i 4 4 4 4 «•••••••••••• 4 4 4444144444444 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 SIGNED Clarence O.
