Will Come to Peoples
“Children of Pleasure,” Metro
Goldwyn-Mayer’s all-talking adap
tion of Crane Wilbur’s stage success
of last season, “The Song Writer,”
will open Wed. and Thurs. August 6-7
at the Peoples Theatre with a cast
which includes Lawrence Gray, Wynne
Gibson, Helen Johnson. Benny Rubin.
b enneth Thompson, Lee Kholmar and
May Boley. Both Miss Gibson and
Miss Johnson, who have the featured
feminine roles, were imported to Hol
lywood from the legitimate theatre.
Miss Gibson’s only previous film ex
perience having been in “Nothing But
the Truth,” while Mi s Johnson makes
h. er picture debut in the present ve
hicle!
Gray is said to have a role similar
to the one he played in the Duncan
si.-tor’s picture, “its a Great Life,"
which gave him an opportunity to
mag a number of song hits. Whereas
lii • former offering was a slant on
hack stage existence, the present ve
bkle is said to reveal the details of
ti i sung writing game from, the very
moment when the song is first writ
ten in the time it is sung on the night
