Mrs. J. T. Camp of Garysburg, spent the week-end here with Mrs. John Beard. Miss Gertrude Bray is back home again after visitin her sister, Mrs. Howard Faison in Franklin, Va. Mrs. Treadwell fo Franklin, is vis iting Mrs. Leroy Shaw, her daughter. Mr. and Mrs. D. V. Camp and Miss Nita Turner visited in Garysburg on Sunday, with Mrs. Laura Camp. Mrs. Ezella Carstarphen and son, Randolph, spent Saturday in town. Christine, the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Bush, who has been very ill for several days is showing scrfe improvement. Mrs. B. Frank Harris visited her mother, Mrs. T. R. Manning last week. The W. M. S. of the Rosemary Baptist Church held their regular monthly meeting in the church last Tuesday afternoon. The topic was ‘The Challenge of Unfinished Tasks.’ Those taking part on the program were Mrs. J. E. Kirk, Mrs. P. W. Ray, Mrs. P. A. Cook and Mrs. Allsbrook. Mr. and Mrs. Moody Hedgepeth and children and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ray and daughter spent Sunday in Williamston. Mr. Henry Baggot tspent the week end with friends in Sampson Coun ty. Mrs. Silas Baggott and son, Silas, have returned from Sampson Coun ty where they have been visiting Mrs. Laster Warick. Mr. and Mrs. Vann Rook of Stan cil spent th eweek-end with Mrs. W. C. Wright. Mrs. Elizabeth Strickland of Hob good sivited friends and relatives here last week. Friends of Mrs. Claude Keen will he glad to know that she is doing very nicely after an operation Mon day. The Contract Bridge Club met on Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Dav id Traynham as hostess. Potted plants were effectively used. The tables for the players were arranged in the living room and dining room. Highest score for the afternoon was made by Mrs. Cooper Grizzard and she was given a breakfast cloth as a prize. A salad course was served a tfive o’clock to the following players: Mesdames Frank Nash, S. J. Bounds, Frank Kemp, W. S. Dean, Cooper Grizzard Octavius Griffin, Frank Williams, Clarence Grimmer, George Hayes, Claude Edgerton, Pendleton Grizzard and Frank Wil son. It was with deep regret that friends of Mr. and Mrs. Hunt Park er received word of th edeath of Mrs. Parker’s mother which occurred at the Mayo hospital in Rochester, Minn. The body was brought to the home of the deceased on Monday and interment was made in Greensboro Moday afternoon. Ladies Aid Circle No. 1 of the Christian Church met with Mrs. A. S. Mason Tuesday evening at her home on Jackson Street. Officers for the year were elected as follow: presi dent, Mrs. R. G. Lewis; secretary, Mrs. L. F. Woolard, treasurer, Mrs. B. J. Jones. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Waters, Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Woolard, Mrs Bessie Ross, Mrs. R. G. Lewis, Mrs. W. A. Armstrong, Mrs. H. G. Whidby, Mrs A. S. Ma son, Mrs J. A. Pridgen, Misses Erma and Hazel Pridgen, Mr. J. A. Prid- ! gen and Mrs. A. S. Mason were visit ors. The retiring officers of Poplar Grove No. 63 Woodmen Circle are putting forth every effort to have every member of the Circle present at the meeting Friday night, Jan. 16, to give the newly elected offi cers a good send-off in their work for the year 1931. This circle merits each Friday evening and every mem ber is needed and is cordialy invit ed to be present. The Four I Club Dance Orchestra Orchestra furnished music for the dance given by Mr. Jimmie Beck with at the Rosemary Winter Garden Friday evening.
