C. FREE DELIVERY SERVICE This is the Enna Jettick Aerocar which visited here yesterday after noon on its tour of the country. The car was parked in front of J. L. Weissner's, local agent for Enna Jet tick shoes, where it was viewed by hundreds of curious persons during its two hour visit. The Areocar was built by Curtiss and is attached to the coupe in front by a patented connection which takes care of shocks and jerks. In the rear are a telephone which connects with the front car, a radio, wicker and plush furniture, a barometer and ship’s clock. R. J. Mangum was the salesman and J. Lewandowski was in charge of the Areocar. The car made the trip here from Elizabeth City in 2 1-2 hours. It is due in Morganton, 40 miles from Asheville at 4 p. m. today. honor of Mrs. J. E. Cox. B. Bogham. Mrs. Wm .Medlin was hostess on last Wednesday afternoon to the A. & C. Bridge Club at her apartment in the Citizens Bank building. Thru out the apartment were potted plants and cut flowers which made a back ground for the two tables of players. A box of dusting powrder was pre sented Mrs. Jack Young as winner of high score. A salad course w'as ser ved at five o’clock. Guests were Mesdamse Jack Young, Clarence Grimmer, J. M. Jackson. W. C. Wil liams, Steve Lipscomb, S. J. Bounds, David Traynham and Miss Susan Holliday. Mr. Eugene Sawyer and Mr. Bill Van Horne of Norfolk were the guests of Miss Olga Boyd, Washing ton Street, Rosemary, Sunday. Woman’s Club Holds Monthly Meet Monday On Monday afternoon the Womans Club held its regular monthly meet ing in the Domestic Science rooms of the High School. The president, Mrs. Fred Brown presided. About twenyt five members responded to roll call. There were several import ant items of business discussed and committees were appointfd. After the regular business meeting a pro gram arranged by Mrs. C. A. Wyche, chairman of the program committee for the Garden Department was gvi en. Mrs. Wyche made a short talk. Mrs. R. P. Beckwith read an essay by Bacon on Gardens. Mrs. Charlena Hart read a paper “Why I Plant a Garden.” Following this, Mrs. A. Meikle read a paper on “Planting the Back Yard.” The program was closed by Mrs. George Hayes read ing a poem “The Garden of Dainty Priscilla.” During the program helpful garden hints were given by the club mem bers. Mrs. A. L. Taylor announced that the Better Homes Department would meet next week with Mrs. R. P. Beckwith. The programs given at these club meetings are helpful to the women of the community aRd it is the desire of the club that more members will avail themselves of this opportunity. The club i* to telp jolve the many problems of horn*, garden, civic and community betterment. Will you join with us and help? On Monday, February 2, Miss Mar garet Clark was hostess to the Mon day Night Bridge Club at her home at Rosemary Lodge. Places for play ing were found by valentine tallies. At each place wras a small heart shaped box of candy. A bottle of Coty’s perfume was given as a prize to Mrs. Geore Hayes as winner of high scone. A salad course was ser ved at ten fifteen to the following players, Mesdames Howard Pruden, J. W. Ross, Julian Allsbrook, Alfred Martin, Cooper Grizzard, David Traynham, George Hayes, Emma Craven, Misses Elizabeth Bagley, Hart Sheridan, Martha Craddock, Ruth Transou. Mrs. B. F. Armstrong and dau ghters, Virginia and Jack and Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Bright sent the week end in Columbia visiting relatives and friends.
