ANOTHER LINK GONE
With the death of D. A. Insco, seated right,
near here this week, another link in the once fa
mous Insco chain is gone. This picture shows in
tact five living generations represented. The first
link was broken in September of last year when
Mrs. Betty Insco, 96, seated right, died. The late
Mr. Insco was her son. Standing are her grand
son, F. L. Insco and great granddaughter, Mrs.
Clyde Inscoe Reid. The little girl is Hattie Pearl
Reid, her great-great-grandchild.

Roanoke Rapids Chapter
Red Cross
With an original quota for Roanoke Rapids
Chapter of the American Red Cross set at $80 and
later raised to five times that amount or $400, and
with other calls expected as the flooded areas suf
fer disease, epidemics and fires, and with the
floods sweeping from the Ohio River to the Missis
sippi River in the worst flood of the nation’s his
tory, a goal of at least $1,000 was set tonight by
Rev. Gordon L. Price, chairman of the local chap
ter, which includes Littleton and Aurelian Springs.
As seen on the chart above, the amount re
ported tonight raised by this Chapter is $713.74.
This is $494.37 in the Roanoke Rapids sector and
$219.37 reported by Mrs. W. A. Ward, chairman
of the Littleton sector.
An intensive personal plea is made to those
getting paid off in Roanoke Rapids this Friday to
go to a local Red Cross station and make a contri
bution. It is hoped to reach the thousand dollar
mark by Saturday night if this is done. It is hoped
a personal drive from person to person will not be
necessary, considering the immediate importance.
Red Cross officials here have decided to leave this
matter to individual generosity and all gifts here
have been and will be purely voluntary.
