WELDON NEWS Carmer Gore of Oak Ridge, N. C. spent the week-end with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Gore. Mrs. Clyde King and Miss Dor othy Jones of Rocky Mount, N. C. spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Jones. Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Brown and Mr. Glover of Wilson, N. C. visited Mr. and Mrs. J. T. D. Rawlings Sunday. Mrs. Janet Stein is spending this week in Elizabeth City with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Stallings. Bicket Hawkins visited in Ra leigh Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Carter, Miss Vivian Caldwell and James Vick of Enfield spent Tuesday in Rich mond, Va. and stayed over Tues day night to hear Nelson Eddy. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Stallings of Elizabeth City visited Mr. and Mrs. J. T. D. Rawlings Sunday. Miss Doris Willey of E.C.T.C., Greenville, is spending the spring holidays at home. Mrs. Eva Bishop returned home Monday after spending several days with her sister in Norfolk, Va. Friends of Mrs. Bill Neal will regret to hear she is in the hos pital in Roanoke Rapids. Mrs. Joe Estridge and daughter, Francis Ann of Florence, S. C. spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Jones. Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Turner of Weldon were called to Gastonia, N. C. last Thursday on account of the death of Mr. Turner’s father. Miss Charlotte Dawson of Nor folk, Va. spent the week-end with her grandmother, Mrs. Sallie Daw son. Mrs. H. G. Lassiter, Mrs. Pierce Johnson, Mrs. R. A. Musgrove and Mrs. W. S. O’B. Robinson returned home Sunday after a trip to Flori da. A number of people from Wel don attended the funeral of T. B. Suiter in F.ocky Mount Sunday aft ernoon. Mr. Suiter was a brother of Dr. W. G. Suiter and Mrs. George Green of Weldon. CURLEE-PERRY The Rev. and Mrs. George W. Perry of Durham announce the engagement of their daughter, Marguerite Louise, to William Har ry Curlee of Thomasville, the wed ding to take place in the early summer. Miss Perry will be re membered in Weldon as the daugh ter of Rev. and Mrs. George W. Perry, former pastor of the Wel don Methodist Church. Gaston Home Demonstration Club Meeting The regular monthly meeting of the Gaston Home Demonstration Club was held in the library of the school Wednesday afternoon with a goodly number present. Mrs. Saunders Claibourne and Mrs. Sid ney Moore were added as new members. Mrs. Cebron Jordan gave a most interesting talk on spring styles, using samples of materials to illus trate the various types of costumes discussed. Ten books were reported read since the last meeting. Foundation planting was the sub ject of the lesson discussed by Mrs. Matthews. Refreshments carrying out Saint Patrick colors were served by Mrs. M. L. Walker and Mrs. Robert Price. W.M.N.T. Club Party _ The W.M.N.T. Club entertained a number of their friends with a party at the home of Miss Justine Hockaday Friday night, March 17.
