News About Company "B" 105th Medical Regiment On Active Duty In Army INTERESTING ITEMS CONCERNING LOCAL BOYS AT CAMP (By St. Sgt. James T. Martin) Over the past week many changes have been made in the 105th Medical Regiment, and one of the most important ones was a heavy blow to the men of Co. “B”. Captain Thomas J. Taylor was lost to the company, being transferred to Company G of this same Regi ment, which differs from the col lecting company. Company G is a hospital company and clearing station for casualties. First Lieu tenant Martin L. Sebastian takes over the command of company “B”. Captain Taylor had won a place in every man’s heart, just as he did while at home, and it was with re gret that the company loses him. In Lt. Sebastian the company will have a wonderful commander, and we all wish him success. The men at Fort Jackson have been undergoing a very strenuous week, with a general inspection coming up for August 1st. So, during the past two weeks the men have had plenty to do in getting their equipment cleaned up and practicing pitching pup tents. Tak ing out their full field equipment with them and spreading it before tents to make sure that each man understands the method in which it is to be displayed. On Satur day a Regimental inspection was held, with this entire regiment go ing on the field and pitching pup tents, company by company dis playing their equipment, and it was a grand sight. It was something that everyone would have enjoyed looking at, but the only drawback was that old Mother Sun was really bearing down on the boys and many wet shirts were in evidence. Down here in the sand hills the days are up-wards of 100’ de grees hot, and sweat comes freely. Going home on furloughs next week, the following men will be away for seven days: Sgt. Emory a. vaugnan, <jorp. James E. Shaw, Pfc. David L. Lyles, Pfc. Robert A. Powell, Pfc. Wilson Lanier, Pvt. Leroy Jones, Pvt. Claude M. Ins coe, Pfc. Johnnie R. Height, Pfc. Charlie E. Jarvis, Pvt. Norman G. McLeod, Pfc. Milton T. Rogers. We are glad to announce that, Pfc. Johnnie R. Height has re returned from the hospital and is now back on duty, but we still have some few there resting up from such things as colds, sore feet, and malaria fever: Sgt. Stephenson, Pfc. James W. Webb, Pvt. Frank C. Borrell, and Pvt. Jesse J. Carlyle. It is hoped that they will soon be able to return to the company. Sgt. Robert E. Welsh, our mor tor sergeant, and all truck drivers sure did some splendid work on the trucks last week in overhauling » them and repainting the motors and the bodies. When the job was finished, they were almost same as new and they drew favorable com ments from the inspectors on in spection last week. I wish to state that in the past I have received a good many let ters inquiring about different boys scattered about in different places. I wish to state that I don’t have all the necessary information re quested. I will give each request what ever information I can give. So in the future when inquiring about some one, I would greatly appreciate it if the name, Com pany and branch of service they are in be enclosed. The day rooms for the companies will soon be ready for their indi vidual use by the men, making a great improvement by providing a place to go to read and write in quiet. Also each regiment will socn have its own chapel as these build ings will soon be completed and turned over to the Regiments for services to be held in. I TOWN I TALK Leo Burton, Linwood Moore, L. H.
