Hoskins was very active in ie 1945 forestry program through lt North Carolina, especially as :gards its tie in with Future armers of America chapters in this state. “The ’46 program is set up this way,” Peeler raid. “The state is divided into five districts and a winner from eacn of these will be chosen on the basis of the best achievement in forestry undertak en on his own property. The dis trict supervisor of vocational agri culture from the State Depart ment of Education and the dis trict forester from the State For est Service will select the winner in their respective districts. The first four winners will receive a scholarship to the Florida State Forestry Training Camp near Lake City this summer.” Peeler stated further that a top winner from among these five will be picked. This super champ will receive a $25 Victory Bond and a certifi cate of merit. A large number of participants is expected for this year’s contest Mr. Hoskins said and present indi cations are that their total will far exceed last year’s entrants. Varied presentations and programs have been planned for the youth ful contestants and will take place at Jacksonville and other import ant centers in Florida to be des ignated later. Sponsoring the over all project which is coordinated and directed by the North Carolina Forest Ser vice and the Department of Voca tional Agriculture, are the follow ing persons and organizations: State Forester W. K. Beichler; Staet Supervisor of Vocational Agriculture Roy Thomas; The American Turpentine Farmers As sociation represented by M. E Coleman of Valdosta, Georgia; The Halifax Paper Company of Roa noke Rapids represented by F. D. Gottwald and John Mausteller; The Riegal Paper Company of Bolton, N. C., repreesnted by F. S. Leinbach and J. B. Lottey and the Seaboard Air Liije Railway as represented by Mr. Hoskins.
