Local VFW District Reorganizes At Weldon At a district meeting of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Wil son last Thursday night, attended by local VFW members, a com plete reorganization of the dis trict was made. Representatives from 14 post, met for the annual en. - r..r of the Second District of the North Carolina V. r. in the Wilson post clubroom .1. , the Briggs Hotel. Commander O- B. Beiand, commander of the Wilson Post 6651, presided over the meeting and introduced Talmadge Green, acting city manager, who welcomed the guests to the encompment. After a barbecue supper, the ' meeting was turned over to the i | acting district commander, Dr. L. J. Dupree, of Kinston, who conducted the election of fficers. Officers for the Second D;s j met elected were: Dr. L. J. 1 | Dupree, commander: Harvey C. McNair, Wilson, senior Vice commander; John W. Fmch, Wilson, junior vice-commander; Lovet Hines, Lenoir, quarter master; Walter L. Tucker, Wil son, judge advocate; Dr. Claude Ballard, Lenoir, surgeon; the Rev. James B. Daily, Jackson, chaplain. The Second District is com posed of posts from Wilson, Km ston, Roanoke Rapids, Jackson, Enfield, Norlina, Tarbor, W’ind sor, LaGrange. Weldon, Rich Square, Littleton, Scotland Neck and Pink Hill. May 17.—American families who desire floral decora tion of individual graves m U S. military cemeteries overseas on Memorial Day may obtain this special service through their nearest neighbor hood FTD florist, it was an nounced today. For the secone year special flowers- by wire service lias been arranged for military graves in France or Italy, Hawaii or the Philippines on the same guaran tee basis as domestic orders, ac cording to Edward J McCarthy, president of Ftorists’ Telegraph Delivery Association. Except for the fractional por tion of war dead already trans ferred to this country by request from next of kin. virtually all lie within normal service range of FDT’s expanded world-wide network. McCarthy explained. Special priority will be given to Memorial Day orders for mili tary cemeteries overseas, he said. More than 7.000 bonded mem ber shops throughout the U.
