By Heath Graves Despite a difficult schedule that left them 2-9 as a team, the 2A Unicorn wrestlers had several strong showings against the many tough 4A schools they faced. NCSSM beat several of these teams on the mat, but lost as they had to forfeit four or more weight classes (24 or more of a possible 72 points). Under coaches Don McCllntock and Matt Brown, the wrestlers Improved from November to February and became a real challenge to even the largei; schools. This was shown in their second match against Broughton. In the first match, the Unicorns had lost by a wide margin. This time, the wrestlers won 27 of the 40 points they wrestled for. But they had to forfeit 5 weight classes (30 points) and so lost 43-27. The NCSSM wrestlers continued to come on In the Cape Hatteras tourna ment, taking one second place (Craig Sybrant) and three third places (Georg Buehler, Joey Staler, and Wes Schooler). At reglonals, Georg Buehler took second and two more wrestlers (Wes Schooler and Leon Livingston) took fourth In their weight classes.
