Library Association
Meals In Salisbury
The annual convention of the
North Carolina High School Li
brary Association was held in
Salisbury on April 4-5. Repre
senting Greensboro High School
were Miss Herring, Anne Button,
and Martha Jordan, wno is the
President of the Library Club at
G. H. S.
Delegates from about 55 high
schools in the state were at the
convention. At the Friday after
noon session, Mrs. Mary P. Doug
las, supervisor of school libraries
in Raleigh, was the main speaker.
A banquet and dance on Friday
night highlighted the convention.
After a final session the conven
tion adjourned Saturday after
noon.
Made up of student library as
sistants, this Association was
organized in 1947. Miss Herring
was on;e of the librarians in the
state who helped in the organiza
tion. The purpose of the associa
tion is to arouse interest in the
study of librarianship as a pro
fession.
