Many of you may remem
ber, "The Phoenix", a
spectacuiar hundred-foot
oil on canvas mural painted
by Gienda Wharton while
she was a student at the
North Carolina School of
the Performing Arts. Think
of those images, symbois,
and figures walking, taiking,
and fiying and you wiii have
some idea of her wonderful
new work-in-progress, “The
Zo and The Invisibie
Friend”.
“The Zo and the Invisible
Friend” will be a 35mm
hand-drawn and painted
short fiim. It is the story of
an abused chiid kept in a
magical house by a mon
ster called the Zo. It is a
story of abuse and survival.
“The Zo” is aii hand drawn
and painted and Glenda
may be the only person in
the world working in this way. Glenda's first experiences with anima
tion came when she created Winston-Salem State University's
GAMMA digital imaging program in the 1990's. "Our program was

On July 10, 2007 at 7:00 p.m.. Pastors Lee & Shonia
Stokes and the Destiny Christian Center family will embark
upon Winston-Salem to kick-off their very first service at the
newly found second location for Destiny Christian Center. The
kick-off and following services for this location will be held
weekly on Tuesday nights at the Courtyard by Marriott at
Hanes Mall (1601 Westbrook Plaza Drive. The services will
consist of praise and worship, singing, teaching and preach
ing.
The mission of Destiny is “to win souls through personal
and lifestyle evangelism, make disciples by becoming disci
plined and knowledgeable of the promise and principles found
in the Word, and to live victoriously by implementing Believers’
