Page Four The Caromount News JULY. 1955 Mrs. Elsie Adams Young came to work in the Warping Depart ment at Caromount in May, 1942. She has been creeling in that de partment since her emjsloyment. Mrs. Young was born in Nash County, daughter of Mrs. Jesse Adams and the late Jesse Adams of Nash County. She attended Rocky Mount City Schools. In 1917 she was married to William H. Young, now super visor of Warping at the Caro mount and Wilson Divisions. They have one son, Erwin, of Washington, D. C., and one daughter, Norma, now living in Norfolk, and five grandchildren. Mrs. Young raises beautiful flowers but her favorite pastime is crocheting. She does fancy work for herself and any of her friends who admire her work. It has proved to be a very profit able hobby, especially during the fall and winter months when she cannot work outside in her flow ers. Another interesting member of Mrs. Young’s family is her Moth er, who is now 91 years old. She has made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Young for seventeen years and was always very active until she received injuries in a fall within the past few years and is now confined to her bed. COMBAT HEAT FATIGUE WITH SALT TABLETS! Vacation News From Wilson Division Beach Vacation J. P. and Ruth Whitehead visit ed Carolina and Buckroe Beaches during vacation week. Trip To Florida Millard Mantooth and Mrs. Mantooth visited interesting points in Florida while away on vaca tion. To Capital City Joe Faulk and his family visit ed many interesting places in Washington, D. C., during the week of July fourth. Deep Sea Fishing Trip Mrs. Adelle Tyson and her son, Vernon, spent vacation week at Carolina Beach with friends. While away they enjoyed a deep sea fishing trip on which they caught many fish and they also took in the moonlight cruises— they report a wonderful time. In Washington, D. C. Mr. and Mrs. James Hamm and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Raper visited Washington, D. C. on their vacation. At Carolina Beach Douglas Thompson and Ralph Davis spent their vacation at Carolina Beach. Welcome Mat The third shift employees would like to welcome Finley Cates as new' assistant foreman. Return From California Ernest Strickland and family have returned from Los Angeles, California, where they visited his brother. Ernest reports a won derful trip but says it was very tiring. Returns To Work We are glad to have Alma Ward back at work after being out for several days with an in jured leg. Back At Work Hazel Boykin has returned to work after being out for some time. At Carolina Floyd Page and Mac Over man spent their vacation week at Carolina Beach. Appendectomy Marvin Langley is back at work after updergoing an appendec tomy at Park View Hospital. Vacation At Morehead Tommy Braswell and his fami ly spent their vacation at More- head City. Weekend At Morehead Mrs. Thelma Cherry spent the weekend of the fourth of July at Morehead City. Visit Relatives Mrs. Eunice Allen and daugh ters, Meta Pearl and Barbara, spent their vacation visiting rela tives in Winston-Salem and tour ing the Blue Ridge Mountains. In Portsmouth Mrs. Effie Davis spent her vaca tion visiting friends and rela tives in Portsmouth, Virginia. She went fishing at Ocean View and caught some very nice fish. Vacation In Washington Mrs. Amy Baker Norris and daughters, Lynda and Frances, spent their vacation in Washing ton, D. C. visiting Mrs. Norris’ mother, Mrs. Fred Bass and other relatives. While there both Mrs. Norris and Lynda celebrated birthdays. Among the gifts they brought back was a beautiful blue parakeet, a gift from Mrs. Bass. In Western North Carolina Mr. and Mrs. Luther Lamm spent vacation week touring the western part of the state. Celebrates Birthday Joan Barnes, daughter of The- olphius Barnes, celebrated her fourth birthday on July 1, by entertaining several of her friends at a party at her home. Joan received many useful and lovely gifts. Vacation At Pamlico Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Ward and Mr. and Mrs. Theo Barnes and children, Joa nand Dickie, spent the holidays at Care Point on the Pamlico River. Charlie and Theo went giging for flounders for the first time and really came in with beginners luck—20 nice flounders. Minor Surgery Russell Joyner took advantage of vacation week to have some minor surgery done to his nose. Trip To Niagara During vacation week, Rebec ca and Chester Johnson went to Niagara Falls and Canada. New Grandson Mrs. Rosalie Jones, second shift weaver, is the proud possessor of a new grandson. Stephen Ray Williamson was born to Mr. and Mrs. Billy Williamson on July 4. Holiday At Carolina Ronald Powell and family spent the July fourth weekend at Caro lina Beach. Fishing In Virginia Mrs. Effie Davis spent her va cation in Portsmouth. While there she went deep sea fishing and reports the fish were reaUy biting. At Ocean View Mrs. Juanita Mattox and fam ily spent a few days in Norfolk and Ocean View. At Rest Haven Evelyn Pate, Jimmy Hill, Jean and Ed Hill and Eileen and Bil ly Parker spent the fourth of July at Rest Haven fishing. They re port not much luck. Mountain Trip Mrs. Bertha Williams and friends traveled through the moun tains of western North Carolina during her vacation. Lawrence Worrell of the Caromount Mending Depart ment, is pictured here while on vacation in the mountains of North Carolina. It looks as if he really did “kick up his heels”. Barry Goddard is the grand son of Will Young and Mrs. El sie Young of the Caromount Warping Department. Barry has made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Young since he was a tiny baby. He is an active mem ber of Boy Scout Troop 113, sponsored by the Caromount Athletic Association and will be in the sixth grade at Wilkinson School this fall. Harry Rose, pictured above, is the son of Herman and Juan ita Rose, employed in the Car omount Weaveshed. Harry is now stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
