Farmer and Mrs. Sol Bobbitt spent Saturday in Roa noke Rapids. Miss Shearin Elected Treasurer Miss Dorothy Shearin of E. C. T. C., Greenville, a daughter of Jesse V. Shearin and the late Mrs. Shearin has been elected by the Student Body of the College as treasurer of Student Government. Littleton Youth Escapes Injury Sgt. Elmer Powers, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Powers escaped injury when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor recently. He reported that he is well and safe. Another sou of Mr. and Mrs. Powers is Staff Sar geant Eddie J. Powers. He has been ordered to Fort Bragg from Foi't Sill. Oklahoma, where-he completed a course m radio. J. L. Tate Funeral services for .1. L. Tate 88, who died Thursday at hm home in Ashland, Va., were conducted Saturday afternoon at '1 o’clock at the Presbyterian Church Ilcv. 11. L. Davis, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiated an ! burial was in Sunset l-Iill Cemetery. He is survived by his widow, the former Miss Henrietta Hall of Hillsboro three daughters, Mrs. ,J. B. There arc also several grandchil dren. Class Meeting Held The monthly meeting of the Fidelis Class of th Littleton Bap tist Church met with Mrs. W. J. Benton at her home on Halifax Street Tuesday evening. Mrs. H. A, Hunt, president of the class was in charge. X. t Littleton Students Buy Bonds The Littleton High School Stu dents and faculty members have purchased stamps and bonds total ing $2,362.10 since December 9. A Defense Club has been formed in the school under the sponsorship of Miss Margie Griggs and wasf? paper is being collected. The pro ceeds being used for the purchase of stamps.
