An Ordinance Authorizing Blackouts, Orders, Rules and Regulations Pertaining Thereto, and Prescribing The Penalty For Violation Thereof. WHEREAS, the United S at ■* of America is now engaged in war with foreign powers and in mod ern warfare and no town is tree from attack; and WHEREAS, lights during - t time are a definite aid to the en emy in reaching military and ota er objectives; and WHEREAS, blackouts and at raid warnings when ordered are essential to the preservation life and this town, and it is nor essary for the town to ai I armed forces and to protec. a far as possible the property a id lives to its citizens; and WHLRi AS, failtu - to ext authorized a.ithorit.es may r< ili,'. eKuKE, HE IT ORDAINED i’V . In order to pro tect l.fe and property in the Town of Weldon, the Mayor and District Air Raid Warden are authorize 1 and directed to provide for and carry out blackouts and air ram warnings in said town at such times as such blackouts and warn ings may i e deemed necessary, am! particularly for as such periods as may be ordered hy the mili tary and naval forces; and me Mayor and District Air Raid \\ i den are authorized and directed to prescribe such orders, rules am regulations as may be no- > gary to insure the success of Mack outs and air raid warnings and to protect life and property at such periods.
