What do I want out of life? VJhat is love? I^ifliat is death? What makes a person great? What causes poverty, ignorance, disease, greed, lust, laziness, distrust, insanity, hate, and prejudice? Other" questions may be considered according to one's needso Obviously, we shall never c>iiq:k1eto our thesis sentence and outline* However, as we search for our own answers to these questions, our themes will be written, for our lives will reflect that which we believe* When our themes are complete, no matter how little time we have to work with them, they will be evaluated by a Great Teacher, one with more wisdom and understanding than any on earth* V/hat will your theme be? Each person must decide for himself what to believe and what it moans to be alive, and the time to start is now* Who knows what influence our themes can have on humanity and the futureI THE EDITOR'S VIEW mT WILL YOUR Tmm BE? Several "K^eks ago, the seniors, upon arriving in Mrs* Parrish's English class, were asked to choose one of the several topics written on the blackboard, to write a thesis sentence and an outline, and to write a theme of approximately three hundred words on the chosen topic in one hour* We seniors are now at a time in our lives when we are to write an even more demanding theme* The outline should have already been started* The thesis sentence is the answer to a question, ”What do I believe?'’* The outline is the most important part of the theme, however, because without the outline, our theme will lack purpose, unity, and possibly meaning, Billy Oliver Editor-in-Chief IN APPRECIATION It has been a great pleasure to edit this volume of the High Times, and I hope that it has been enjoyed by everyone* May I also thank Mr* Sloan, Mrs* Tarleton, Mrs* Daughtry, Mrs* "Weaver, Mrs* Creech, Mrs* Hornaday, and especially Mrs* Burnette and my haixi-working staff for their help and cooperation* Billy Oliver
