Board KTOElXCinZEN When the PTO vt Cool Sntiv, School \NMXMTD a new after school chess club, they expected some interest but were surprised when over 30 students showed up. Travis Drye. Mitchell Community College student, agreed to be chessmaster for the group and began teaching the elementary school students to become chessmasters themselves. Some have more to learn than others, although nearly half of the group already knows how to play. From parent volunteers. Principal Mike Hayes ami Travis, the group will learn everything from how to set up the board to advanced moves such as “en passant and castling." “I love the game." Travis said “Td like for them to learn to love it too." Doesn't seem to be any problem with that The par ents have to plead and bn be their children to leave when the time is up each week. "Keelm started into his homework right after school so he would have more time to play." Anda Drum said of her son. "It takes me forever to get him to finish his work at home but he was all done in no time here.” Dawn Tschanz. PTO president, hopes to have in house tournaments and then play other schools some time after the first of the year.
