Deal Selected for Lead Role in Old Deuteronomy Statesville’s Ryan Deal has been chosen for the lead male role “Old Deuteronomy” in the sole national touring company of the Broadway hit Cats. The production of Andrew Lloyd Weber’s master piece opens in Orlando, Fla., July 25 and will continue on tour until July of 2005. A stop in Raleigh is planned for October 12-17. In his freshman year, he won the Best Overall College Musical Theatre Vocalist Award at the Mid Atlantic Regional level of National Association of Teachers of Singing, as well as the 2000 Greater Statesville Rotary dub Music Competition. He also won the NATS competition for Art Songs among college freshmen males, the competition fra: Musical Theatre among college males of any age, and the 2002 Festival of Music scholarship.
