Bellois Grand Master 1878-79 Grand Master 1979 THE ONE HUNDRED NINETY-THIRD ANNUAL COMMUNICATION OF THE GRAND LODGE OF Then and Now Raleigh—On December 7, 1880, almost a century ago, Grand Master William R. Cox opened the 94th Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of North Carolina "at its Hall." It was the second such experience for Grand Master Cox, he served two terms in the Grand East. On April 15 Grand Master William B. Bellois will open the 193rd Annual Communication at the Royal Villa Convention Center. In his case, though, it will be a maiden voyage; Grand Masters and, in most lodges, Masters only rarely serve more than one term nowadays. There were 104 lodges represented at the 1880 Annual Communication, seven less than (Continued on Page Two) Grand Lodge Open House Raleigh—All regular Masons, their families and friends, are invited to visit the Grand Lodge Building during both days of the annual communication. Hostesses will be on duty from 9 till 5 on Tuesday, April 15, and from 9 till 1 on Wednesday, April 16, to show visitors around and to serve light refreshments. The Grand Lodge Building is on Glenwood Avenue and is easy to reach from the Royal Villa Convention Center, where the annual communication is being held. Leaving the Royal Villa, turn right (east) on U.S. 70 and you are on Glenwood Avenue. Turning neither to the right nor to the left, proceed past Crabtree Valley Shopping Center, under an over pass, through a traffic light, and begin looking for Glen Eden Drive—on your right. The Grand Lodge Building is on the corner of Glen Eden and Glenwood, on your right, and there is a large Masonic sign in front, near the street. Drive in. Stay awhile. Infirm visitors can use the ground level entrance at the far end of the building and take the elevator to the main floor.
