FINANCES FOE GOD OUR LITTLE friend DUPLEX.! Malachai 3:8-10; 1 Cor. 16:1-2. Accept and Practice God’s Financial Plan. -o CANDIDATE FOR REGISTER OF DEEDS This is but a political advertisement or a re minder. I am asking my friends and readers of the Hyde County Messenger and the voters of Hyde county to consider it not an advertise ment, but a personal visit to your home to solicit your support for the office which I am seeking, the office of Register of Deeds of Hyde county. As I have said before, it will be just impos sible for me to make as thorough a canvass as I should or would like. This is due to financial reasons and duties that will require most of my time at home. Eight years ago I was a candidate for this office (Register of Deeds). I made a good can vass of the county at that time. Even though I was defeated, I got a very good vote—only de feated by about 20 votes in the first primary. I was encouraged to be a candidate this time by several of my friends who did not vote for me before, but have pledged their most honorable support in the coming Democratic primary. I regret very much that the women had not gained their right to vote eight years ago in the first primary. I am asking you to inquire in any way about me, concerning my past or pres ent character, qualifications and capabilities. I am by no means perfect, but feel that it is your duty to know me. I refer you to any man or woman of my home town, Swanquarter, N. C., where I have lived all of my life with the ex ception of eight months in Raleigh attending Kings Business college and one and one-half years with the U. S. A. Engineers of Norfolk, Va., during the world war. I am 38 years old and married. Now, friends, after doing this, I will be will ing to leave it to you to vote your own convic tions an^ assure you that your support will be appreciated. My promise is that if elected I will fulfill the duties of the office to the very best of my ability , and will live, act and do in a way which will make you proud of the fact that you voted for me to fill the office of Register of Deeds. Joe O. Credle. -o WHICH CLASS ABE YOU IN? Hebrews 10:25: “Not forsaking the assem bling of yourselves together as the manner of some is.” Some folks have the habit of attending S. S. and preaching services and some do not. Some once had it but have forsaken it. Could you give a legitimate reason for not attending the services? Would the reason you give stand good at the judgment bar of God. Remember the church suffers when you stay away. Vote for the church by lending your presence each Sun day. Now if it rains put on your overcoat, your rubber shoes, grab your umbrella and come on, or crank the car and go by for your neighbor who does not have a way to come. You help us to have a better report by com ing. You help to make the report of your S. S. class; yes, your Sunday school and church just what it is. Remember, it’s your S. S. and your church. A record is being made. If company comes, bring them along; they need the gospel of Jesus Christ, too. If you feel bad and have a little headache, drink a glas& of water and come on and you will feel better. Get your mind off of your aches, pains and feel ings and get it on the word of God at S. S. and by listening to a sermon. If you are lazy and unconcerned, then you are following in the channel of a bad habit, and should get out. If you are thinking about visit ing Uncle John and Aunt Susie, or grandpa or grandma, or some cousin, relative, or friend, don’t go in at service time unless you are going to church. You keep them from doing their duty. They don’t feel like running off and leav ing company, but yet that is exactly what they ought to do if you go in at church time and refuse to go with them. Church going is a means of grace and di vinely appointed. It is helpful and restful to mind and body. The best investment of your time, influence and where you can even invest your wealth profitably. How easily neglected. Absence from next Sunday s services will make it easy to stay away the next week. The slightest irregularity in at
