Eight Charged Larceny of Tires Gas, Batteries Eight local Negro youths have been arrested and charged with larceny Saturday by Wake County Sheriff’s deputy B. G. Munn. Those charged were: William Ferrell. Ralph Jones, David Jones, all of Rt. 2, Wake Forest; William Junior Winston, Rt. 1, Youngsville; Verdell Fowler, James Caudle and David Caudle, all of Rt. 3, Wake Forest, and Jesse Lee Teachy of Rt. 1, Wake Forest. The thefts involved gasoline, tires, batteries in an area from Wakefield Farms, to Rolesville anl Youngsville. The youths were released under bond for trial on January 8 at Wake Forest Re corders Court. Pitts, local manager for Carolina Telephone, one of the town’s larger taxpayers, said this week that the company had re cently delivered a check for $1,- 290 to the town of Wake Forest tax collector. The check was in payment of 1964 ad valorem taxes on the com pany’s properties within the town. eastern North Carolina this year amounted to $1,091,000. In addi tion, state and federal taxes came to $8,400,000. This does not include the 10% federal excise tax on telephone service which the company col lects from its subscribers and re mits to the federal government. Boh Briggs, III Receives MS Degree Auburn University conferred 442 degrees including 63 master’s and 379 bachelor’s during fall quarter commencement Wednes day, December 16. Robert Cooke Briggs, HI, son of Dr. and Mrs. R. C. Briggs of Wake Forest received the Master of Science degree. Mr. Briggs received his B. A. degree from Union University, in Jackson, Tenn. Grady Wheeler, Jr. Dr. E. L. Spivey, Director of the Division of Missions, will preach the ordi nation sermon. New YeaPs Service The Forestville Baptist Church will have a Candlelight Service of Worship and Holy Communion on New Year’s Eve at 11:15 P. M. The serving table was covered with a Christmas cloth, and center arrangement was of same motif. Refreshments of punch, decorated cup cakes and cookies, potato chips, peanuts and candy canes.
