Services Held For Mrs. Mary Shearon Mrs. Mary Williams Shearon, 80, died early Saturday morning at Rogers Nursing Home here, fol lowing a lengthy illness. A native of Wake County and widow of the late George W. Shearon, Sr., she was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Raleigh. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 4 o’clock from Willis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William T. Mills and the Rev. Melvin E. Winters offi- (Ciating. Burial followed in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Ceme tery. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Joseph W. Brown of Massa- pequa. Long Island, and Mrs. A. M. Fort of Raleigh; two sons, George W. Shearon, Jr., of Wil mington, and W. R. (BiU) Shearon of Wake Forest; two sisters, Mrs. N. R. Stell of Raleigh and Mrs. Claude Bowling of RolesviUe; nine grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. Active pallbearers were: Tom my Byrne, Leon Lentz, N. R. Stell, Jr., Roy Overby, Vassar Shearon, and J. L. Shearon. John 0. MacMillan Passes Away Friday John 0. MacMillan, 73, of Wake Forest died early Friday morning at the Monroe County Hospital in Barnesville, Ga., following a brief illness. He was a native of Vance Coun ty, a retired farmer, and a mem ber of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Dabney. He had made his home with his son, Carl 0. MacMillan, of Wake Forest for the past 10 years. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock from Willis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Melvin E. Winters offi ciating. Burial followed in Elni- wood Cemetery in Henderson. Sudvivors include two daughters Mrs. Hugh Perry of Route 5, Ra leigh and Mrs. Derek Brooks of New Brunswick, N. J.; six sons, John D. of Durham, Herbert of Greenville, S. C., Carl 0. of Wake Forest, George A. of Barnesville, Ga., James R. of Raleigh and Jack F. MacMillan of Greensboro; one sister, Mrs. M. D. Tillotson of Henderson and eleven grandchil dren. Active pallbearers were Robert Gay, Donnie Hight, Glen White, C. Y. Holden, Jr., Dorsey Tillot son, and John Wells. DUBOIS SENIORS GET SCHOLARSHIPS Eight members of the DuBois graduating class have received scholarships and scholarship loans to further pursue their academic endeavors at the college of their choice. Rosa L. Parker — A scholarship for $625.00 to attend Bennett Col lege in Greensboro. A $75.00 Wake County Teacher’s Scholarship to attend the college of her choice; Annette Allen — $1,200.00 to at tend Shaw University in Raleigh. Annette has also received a North Carolina Prospective Teacher’s Scholarship which profides $1,400 over a four year period. She is also the recipient of a $500.00 N. D. E. A. Loan from Shaw. Sylvia Crudup — $625.00 from Bennett College in Greensboro, Lorenzo Jackson — N. D. E. A. Loan from. Winston Salem College, Winston Salem, worth $450.00, Rog er Shackleford — $440.00 N.D.E.A. Loan from Winston Salem College. Leona Sneed — $100.00 Scholar ship from Raleigh Business Col lege, Raleigh, North Carolina, Leonia Perry — $100.00 Scholar ship from Raleigh Business, Ra leigh, North Carolina, Frankie Lucas — $500.00 N. D. E. A. Loan to attend Winston Salem College. Danny Scarborough — $2,800.00 from Saint Augustine’s College, Raleigh and a North Carolina Prospective Teacher’s Scholarship which provides $1,400.00 over a four year period. A native of Franklin County, and a retired carpenter, Mr. Tippett was a member of Glen Royal Baptist Church. He had lived in Wake Forest for the past 43 years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Cora Coggins Tippett of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Perry of Burlington, and Mrs. Grace Sta ples of Lynchburg, Ga.; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conduct ed Saturday morning at 11:00 from Glen Royal Baptist Church with the pastor, the Rev. Gerald Fountain, and the Rev. Claude Haynes officiating. Burial will foUow in the Wake Forest Ceme tery. The body will remain at the Willis Funeral Home ufitil one hour prior to the funeral services at which time it will be carried to the church. The family will be at the home, 320 West Pine Ave nue. Active pall-bearers will be Andrew and Dick Massey, Willie and Buster Lynam, Elmo Bridges, W. H. Wadford, John B. Cole, and Marvin Grice.
