I On February 22, 1917, Miss Lu anda peace died at the home of ler birth, near Fairport, Granville 0 in the eighty-seventh year of er age. She lived on the same spot through early three generations. Few of e lmaeine what changes she law in those eighty-seven years. She attended uetnei unurcn ana -jntertainea me iviemuiust yieauu jrs, though she was not a member 4f the Methodist Church. iShe read her Bible much and her aith in her Savior was strong and biding. The year before she died she de cided to give her property to the j..ii..Jic.f OrnVi a n n era at Hnlftifh t er leaving bequests of about 3,000 to her old cook and Ave of er children and grandchildren, she ft thf remainder, consisting of jer farm of 225 acres, and several thousand dollars to the Orphanage, o be known as the Lucinda Peace iYa itifnmn nf whirh Will siin- Jort four or five orphans for all time to come. What better disposi tion could she have made with her iejins?1 She will be remembered one hundred years from now by this leeacv. Sixteen years ago, Miss Margaret feace, a double first cousin, living a Jew hundred yards from her, died, Jeaving four times as much prop erty as Miss Lucinda left. She gave (t to about fifteen different legatees, ind not one of them has thought enough of her memory to mark her grave. Today practically all of that estate has passed out of the hands of the legatees, and all seem to have forgotten their benefactor. Miss Lucinda will be remembered for all time by her legacy to the Methodist Orphanage, as her uncle is known by his gift to Peace Insti tute in Raleigh. I saw much of her the last two years of her life, and I shall not for get her simple faith and trust in her Savior. The old Peace Bible is over 160 years old. It is the second oldest in the State, and has been given to Trinity College where it can be seen for the years to come. The fact that she had willed her property to the Orphanage was a great comfort to her in her last days. She often talked to me about it, and also to Brothers Barnes and Willis, who visited her. We shall cherish her memory and the orphan will call her "Blessed." J. P. Hunt. Some folks think they are Chris tians because they want to go to heaven. Ex.
