A J REGULAR "FLOATING BAR ROQM Said to be HaulinKmiuorProm Baltl- more to Carolina' Point - (Special Star Correspondence): New Bern, N. C., March 7. For a long while 'locarofticials have wonder4 ed how it was that "bootleggers" and "blind tigers'' at James City, just across Trent river from New Bern, were. able to keep on hand such an enormous sup ply of whiskey when railway and ex press people hereabouts were enforcing the law so vigorously. Now comes the story of j a. strange sailing vessel which Is said to .be used in transportation of the wet goods. The ship, supposed to be employed in haul ing fertilizer from New Bern to some nearby point, is said to be: a regular floating bar room. " j It is said that the captain of the ship makes regular visits - to 1 Baltimore, stocks up with whiskey and then brings it down to the North; Ctetroiina coast towns, selling it at avfabulous price, but this price does not seem to bother the "tigers" who are, so it is said, al ways able to supply the demands of; their customers. The-officials are now on the lookout for this strange vessel and Its captain and the next time that he puts . in at James City it is safe to say that he will meet. with a warm reception on the part: bf the "reception committee."
