State's Honey Makers Will Meet There January 10. (Special Star Correspondence) Raleigh, Dec. 16. A -meeting, of much importance and one that should be attended by all. beekeepers In North Carolina is the second annual meeting of the State Beekeepers' association, which- will be held In the halls of the chamber of commerce at New Bern, N. C, on Thursday, January . 10th. This meeting will begin at 10 a. m. and will continue dui-Ing the . day, including morning, afternoon, and night sessions. Mr. Franklin Sherman, of the division of . entomology, states that there afe good prospects of a large attendance of interested beekeepers, and that men of I national and world-wide reputation in beekeeping work will oe present 10 lane part in the program. The program-of the meeting ia..n.ow being prepared and wiirbe issued in t ew days. The record of the association during the first year of its existence is remark able for steady progress. It was organ ized last January with about 40 mem bers, fixing? the dues at $1 per year. By April 1st it had Increased to 63, by August 1st to 87, October 1st to 99, and on November 20th -139 members had-t been enrolled, and these own a total of well over 7,000 hives of bees. DRAW LONG PRISON TERMS FOR VIOLATING DRAFT LAW Boston, Dec. 17. Brigadier-General John A. Johnston today approved court-martial sentences for violation oi! the draft law of 20 ye&TS each im posed ort" John . T. Dunn and Adolph L. Yanger. of Providence, and of 15 years on Frit Stepanovltch, of Boston. They were sent at once to the federal prison in Atlanta, Ga.
