A New York business mail -who was yn. Petrograd -when the Bolshevik! gained control of Russia, tells ,his ex periences in the World's Work for Oc tober, and gives this example of the Bolshevist: method of handling .the liquor problem: "Right across the way were the Tschernigoo the great cellars of a fa mous wine merchant. I was attracted to the window by the rumble of voices and tread of many feet upon the street which every follower or jpeiasco knows herald the entrance of the mob. It provided to be a band cf sol diers, who made for the vaults yelling with delight and discharging their firearms, apparently for pure joy.- In five minutes the- place ran wine, and the enfranchised populace were glorio usly drunk. The neighbors telephoned Smolny. Smolny .sent a contingent of sailors, presumably to top the orgy. The sailors Joined the celebration, which regaled the town until far Into the night. At midnight they shifted the sceno of the Saturnalia to- the Winter Palace and sacked It complete. Next morning the imperial seal and the date 1789 were to be had lor five xublea." ; " x : v rt'Ji. ; , COMMERCIAL STOCKS MAKE GAINS Adverse Elements Disregarded, Many : - Material Advances .Over Mondajr Being; Recorded. New York, .Nov. 26. Disregarding such widely divergent elements as easy money and reports of additional withdrawals of war contracts today's stock market speedily recovered from its heavy opening, recovering many material advances over the previous session's declines. Signs of an early relaxation of mon ey were afforded by the further ap pearance of time funds from interior banks, with offers, of six and even sev en month loans at 6 per .cent. Call loans Were freely offered at 5 per cent on mixed collateral. ' v Traders seemed to view the railroad situation as precipitated by Secretary McAdoo's coming retirement with less misgivings and confident occummula tion of high-class transportations re sulting in extreme advances of 1 to 3 points. 1 Shippings also scored material ral lies, Mercantile Marine,., pfd., advanc ing almost 5 points, despite announce ment of another halt in the deal by, order of Washington, allied shares gaining two to almost three points. Most o fthe stels and equipments registered substantial progress wih coppers, the latter issues ignoring ru mors of further price cutting. Oils pursued their usual independent course, which was mainly higlier, tobaccos were moderately active, but firm and fertilizers, utilities and sundry spe cialties closed at variable gains though these were slightly reduced on realizing for profits. Exchange on allied centers was dull and unaltered, but remittances to neu tral points, particularly Stockholm, were higher, Swiss -and Spanish bills also hardening. The one adverse feature was the bond market,, where quotations shaded generally on pressure against Liberty issues, the fourth 4s malting e new low record at 97.08. Total 6ales, par value, 513,675,000. Old U. S. bonds un changed on call. NEW YORK STOCK LIST. Watoga, W. Va.Mrs. S. W. Gladwell, of this town, says: "When about 15 years of age, I suffered greatly . . . Sometimes would go a month or two, and I had terrible headache, backache, and bearing down pains, and would just drag and had no appetite. Then it would last . . . two weeks, and was so weakening, and my health was awful. My mother bought me a bottle of Cardui, and I began to improve after taking the first bottle, so kept it up till I took three'. . . I gained, and was well and strong, and I owe it all to Cardui. I am married now and have 3 children . . . Have never had to have a doctor for female trouble, and 'just resort to Cardui if I need a tonic. I am glad to testify to what it has done for me, so as to help others." If you are nervous or weak, have head aches, backache, or any of the other ailments so common to women, why not give Cardui a trial? Recommended by many physicians. In use over 40 years. Begin taking Cardui today. It may be the very medicine you need. NC-130 NOTICE OF SALE. State of North Carolina, County of New Hanover, In the Superior Court. Matilda A.
