Mrs. Sidney Smith of Raleigh, state president, will preside. The three-day meeting will be filled with important business ses sions and entertainments honoring the wives of doctors throughout North Carolina. Mrs. Smith will entertain the board of directors at luncheon Monday, May 11, at 1:30 p.m., at the Hotel Charlotte, fol lowed by the pre-convention meet ing of the board. The annual state meeting will be held Tuesday morning, May 12, at 10:30 o’clock at the Charlotte Woman’s club. Dr. F. Shaw Wed In Hamlet Bride Holds Position In Wil mington District Engi neer Office HAMLET, May 2.—A wedding of interest in the state was that of Miss Josephine Erwin Russell of Hamlet and Calvin High Shaw, which took place at 5:30 o’clock, Saturday afternoon, April 25, in the First Presbyterian church of Hamlet. The ring ceremony was performed by Rev. W. I. Howell. The church was decorated with palms, fern, white hydrangea and baskets of white snapdragons and gladioli. Mrs. B. W. Dickinson, organist, rendered a program of nuptial music prior to the ceremony. Pvt. Harris Holden of Hamlet and Fort Leonard Wood, Miss., sang two solos. Miss Rose Jordan, maid-of-hon or, wore an aqua dress with matching accessories and carried an arm bouquet of roses tied with pink satin ribbon. The best man was Hurley J. Shaw of Durham, father of the bridegroom. The bride, who was given in marriage by her mother, Mrs. Er win McCanless Russell, was at tired in a tailored suit of maize imported wool with sheer white blouse and black accessories. Her flowers were a corsage of orchids. Ushers were James Brittingham, Jr., brother-in-law of the bride, Hurley Shaw, Jr., brother of the bridegroom, Jimmy Copeland and Alex Mclntire of Wilmington. The bride’s mother wore an azure blue crepe dress with a shoulder c o r sa g e of talisman roses. The bridegroom’s mother wore a navy blue sheer dress with a corsage of red roses. The wedding will take place in Mid-Summer. _ Town Hall Musical Planned Tuesday At Local High School Tuesday night in the New Han over High school auditorium “Town Hall Musical’’ will be pre sented at 8:15 o’clock. - This will be the first variety musical of the year in that it is filled with entertainment which will be suited for both young and old. The New Hanover High school Glee club will be the feature at traction on the program and will present some fine music. The Glee club has just returned from Greensboro where it partici pated in a state-wide meet. Com edy skits will be offered and a community sing will give every one a chance to meet and sing with his neighbor. One of the most outstanding at tractions will be the “Can Can Conga.’’ In this newly arranged dance, eight brawny boys selected from the Phalanx fraternity will give the public their impression of chorus girl life on the stage. A surprise solo will be interwoven into this act and will prove hilari ous to the public. “Gay Ninety” shows had nothing on this show; come and sing with your friends.
