This includes the rifle range south of camp. Sears Land ing, Fort Fisher, and the pistol range at Sears Landing. The rifle range will be in use all day from May 4 through May 9. Persons should not trespass on the area immediately south of the reservation. Sears Landing will be used for anti-aircraft gun firing from May 4 through May 8. Special note is made that firing will take place not only in the day time on all dates, but from 8:45 p.m., to 10:15 p.m., May 4. Small craft are warn ed to avoid the danger zone known as sector No. 2. At the Fort Fisher firing point anti-aircraft guns will be fi r e d from May 4 through May 9. This applies particularly to small boat opera tors. 4 -V Wilmington Art Museum Makes Change In Hours The Wilmington WPA Museum of Art will remain open to the public from Monday through Friday until 3 p.m. On Saturday it will close as usual at 6 p.m. This change in lours has been arranged especial ly for the soldiers, many of whom pan come to the museum only in :he evenings. A group of soldiers from the Air lase is starting a class in paint ing which will meet in the studio if the museum each night during ;he week. C. 31-119 Sealed proposals will be received at the City Hall in Wilmington, N. C., by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Wilmington, N. C., until 10:00 A. M. W. T., June 3rd, 1942, and then publically opened and read, for Water Works Improvements enumerated as follows: SECTION 1. Constructing New Water Filtration Plant Building, filters, sedimentation basins and appurtenant struc tures, furnishing and/or installing pumping units, electrical equipment, laboratory equipment and ap paratus, etc., for a designed filter capacity of seven (7) million gallons per day. SECTION 2. Plumbing in Water Filtration Plant Building. SECTION 3. Heating in Water Filtration Plant Building-. SECTION 4. All Filter Plant Equipment and appurtenant piping, valves, etc. SECTION 6. Approximately 1750 linear feet of Chain Link Fence. SECTION 6. Furnishing and installing complete a 400 K. W. @ .80 P. F. Diesel Engine-Driven Electric Generator. Proposals must be enclosed in a sealed envelope addressed to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Wilmington, N. C., and on the outside of the envelope must be marked ‘‘PROPOSAL FOR WATER WORKS IMPROVEMENTS, SECTION_” (State Section and/or Item bid on.) All proposals must be made upon the blank forms for same provided and Included in copies of the Proposal, Specifications and Contract forms. On the outside of the envelope shall be plainly marked the name and address of the bidder. Each proposal must be accompanied by a certified check drawn on a bank authorized to do business in North Carolina payable to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Wilmington, N. C., in an amount equal to not less than five (5) per cent of the total aggregate amount of the bid or bids, as a guarantee that the contract will be entered into with in ten (10) days after notification of award of contract if awarded the bidder and that the required bond will be executed. A performance bond will be required of the successful bidder in an amount equal to one hundred (100) per cent of the contract, conditioned upon the faithful performance of the contract and upon the payment in full to all persons supplying labor and furnishing materials, equipment and/or apparatus for and in connection with the work to be performed under the contract. Prescribed wage rates are those set up by the Mayor and City Coun cil of the City of Wilmington, N. C., in accordance with local wage con ditions and as set forth in the wage schedule contained in “Instructions to Bidders” included with the Specifications and Contract forms for the project. General Contractors are notified that “An Act to Regulate the Practice of General Contracting” ratified by the General Assembly of North Carolina on March 10, 1925, and as subsequently amended, will be observed in receiving and awarding general contracts. Plumbing and heating Contractors are notified that Public Local Laws of 1931, Chapter 52, as amended by Public Laws of 1933, Chapter 57, will be observed in receiving and awarding plumbing and heating contracts. Electrical contractors are notified that provisions of Chapter 87, Public Laws of 1937, will be observed ii^ receiving bids and awarding contracts for all electrical work installed in the project. The right is reserved to reject any or all bids and to waive all for malities or to award contract or contracts which, in the opinion of the Mayor and City Council and the Engineer, appear to be for the best in terests of the City. The right is also reserved to hold any or all pro posals for a period not exceeding thirty (30) days from the date of opening thereoff. Plans and specifications may be obtained upon application to the Engineer accompanied by a certified check deposit in the amount of Twenty (20) Dollars, made payable to the City of Wilmington, N. C. This deposit will be refunded only to those making bona fide direct bids to the City of Wilmington. To those acquiring plans and specifications and who find, upon examining same, that they will not or cannot offer a. bid to the City of Wilmington the deposit will be refunded, less the actual cost of reproduction of the drawings and specifications, provided the plans and specifications are returned to the Consulting Engineer in unmarked and otherwise acceptable condition, within thirty (30) days after the date set for receiving bids. Plans and specifications will also be on file at the office of the City Engineer of Wilmington, in Wilmington, N.
