The Army disclosed today the mass march of the “many thou sands” composing the medicdl re placement center, reporting the German Transport Head Dies After Long Illness LONDON, June 21.^-<ff)—Major Gen. Adolf Huehnlein, German motor transport chief, was buried today in Munich with Nazi mourn ing led by Adolf Hitler and Propa ganda Minister Paul Joseph Goeb bels while Russian sources sug gested the general had been a vic tim of the Gestapo. Huehnlein died “after a long ill ness” of heart paralysis, German sources broadcast. He was 60. An official Russian dispatch bv Tass, datelined Geneva, gave this version: “Reports from the German fron tier say General Huehnlein died under mysterious circumstances. A few days before his deatn, Huehnlein made an inspection trip to motorized corps units. “On his return to Berlin he con ferred with Heinrich Himmler, head of the Gestapo, and afi.er wards told his closest collaborators that he shortly would have to leave Berlin but did not give any de tailed explanation.” At the funeral today, Hitlet placed a wreath on the casket and left the hall after condolences to the family, the German radio said. --V Episcopal Bishop, 91, Dies In Massachusetts BOSTON, June 21.—OP)—The Rt. Bishop Babcock entered the ministry at the age of 47 after a successful business career and was elected suffragan bishop in 191a. Tuttle, District Super visor ■ movement was completed in three days. Although authorized to transport his men by truck, Brig. Gen. Wil liam R. Dear, commanding gen eral of the medical replacement training center, decided to marcn mstead. The Army said his plan was enthusiastically taken up by the men, most of them new train ees with less than a month or Army hardening. The men spent two nights in temporary encampments. While conservation of tires and gasoline was the keynote of the march, officers used the opportun ity to get in extensive field trait' mg at each encampment. The medical replacement centei, the first established for the train ing of medical soldiers, had been located at Camp Lee for more than a year. The removal to Camu Pickett establishes the center in what was described as the “new est and most modern camp in the country.” General Dear said he was grati fied both by the enthusiasm of the men for the march and the excel lent physical condition they dem onstrated. PRICES TIGHTENED ON RAYON FABRICS OPA Fixes Prices On Yarns And Stable Fibers; To Hold Level WASHINGTON, June 21.— (Jp) — The government tightened price controls on rayon yarn today to prevent the possibility of a break in retail price ceiling which might sky rocket costs of women’s stock ings, underwear, and other civilian goods. Anticipating increasingly heavy demands for rayon, chief substitu'e for silk and nylon which have been diverted entirely to military use-, the Office of Price Administration lowered prices which may be charged by rayon yam converters, and simultaneously fixed prices on yams and stable fibers. The action left OPA with six separate regulations covering var ious phases of the rayon industry. The new yarn and fiber ceiling pegs prices at levels which pro ducers have observed since Oc tober, 1941, at OPA’s request. The cut-back on prices charged by converters fixed new ceilings at “substantially lower prices than most converters charged in March,” OPA reported. Formerly, converters’ prices were covered by the general maximum price regu lation prescribing highest March levels. OPA made it plain that today’s action was designed to protect the March price ceilings on stockings and other finished rayon gooas, and would not mean a reduction in prices charged consumers. Th«* principal effect will be a reduction :n pressure on manufacturers and retailers. The War Production board has allocated about 44,000,000 pounds of rayon for hosiery manufacture this year. OPA declared that there was little possibility that any marked, increase of rayon could be expected during the war. —--V TOWN PENALIZED NEW YORK, June 21.— (*) — The little town of Grevenmacher in Luxembourg was fined 250,OCo marks by German authorities be cause of extraordinary number of anti-Hitler slogans were chalked on the walls, a BBC broadcast heard by CBS said today. The German.* announced the fine in a German controlled Luxembourg newspaper.
