Agelo "Babe” De Mario, of Camp Davis is definitely headed for suc cess. The fleet, beard-hitting out fielder is the undisputed speed king of the team and has hit the nine’s only home run so far this season. Twenty-five years old, 190 lbs., the “Babe” is gifted with natural athletic talents. He set all kinds of records during his four years high school career at Ironwood High in Michigan garnering a to tal of 15 varsity letters through participation in all sports. He held the captaincy in track, senior year; baseball, junior and senior years and football, senior year. Largely through his Hercu lean efforts Ironwood High captur ed the upper Michigan penisula ti tles in football four years, track two years and basketball two years. De Mario was all-state two years in football, had a 48-yard punting average and led the state scorers. In track, he is co-holder of the 100-yd dash title, time, 9.9; runs the 220 under 21 seconds puts the shot over 48 ft., and broad jumps 23 ft.' or better. He was lead man on the half-mile relay team that holds the current Michigan Stat* championship. It was ‘'Baoe’s” athletic prowess that earned him a full scholarship to the University of South Caro lina. Because of the war he only put in two years, but they were studded with outstanding accom plishments. As varsity half-bacx be missed the most valuable player award as the outstanding blocker ih the tough Southern Conference, by one vote. Playing on the baseball team he slammed 20 circuit clouts in 10 conference games, stole 25 bases and batted over 380.
