Despite the sixth consecutive nickle limit setback for the grain at Winnipeg, brokers bid the price around 1 1-2 cents upward at the opening and held fractional ad vances most of the time against moderate liquidation which uncov ered some additional stop loss . selling. Wheat, corn and barley closed again at ceiling prices of $1.80 1-2, $1.13 1-2 and $1.22 1-2. Oats were unchanged to 1-8 cent high er than the previous finish, May 81-cent ceiling. May rye dipped in the final few minutes of trading and finished 5-8-2 lower, May $2.14 1-2-7-8. Other contracts at $1.44 1-2 ceilings. Livestock CHICAGO LIVESTOCK CHICAGO, Feb. 27.—.(A5) — Fed steer' prices turned upward agair today with most sales strong to If cents higher in an active trade. Buyers paid the $18 OPA ceiling for five loads of choice grades the first time in nearly two weeks that steers were rated choice enough to command the limit. The rank and file of steers and yearlings now stand around 30 tc 40 cents higher for the week-to' date. Few killing grade* went below $15, most slaughter steer* selwling from $1.75 to $17.25. A sizeable supply brought $17.50 to $17.90 and heifers topped at $17. Other killing classes were firm with a few sales reported higher. Most beef cows sold for $10.50 to $12.50, weighty sausage bulls reached $13.50, and vealers were steady at $16.50 down. The hog market was unchanged! with all barrows and gilts of slaughter merit selling at the $14.85 ceiling. Sows bUlked at the $14.10 limit. The T.OOO salable cleared early and the same num ber went direct to packers. Slaughter lambs closed fully steady to 15 cents higher and oth er killing classes were fully steady in an active trade.
