'4 WATAUGA DEMOCRAT. R. C Riven, Proprietor. Thbbsday July, 2, lOO. At 7;30. p, m., last Saturday, after a Jiard conventionjstruggle of four days, the lion. William W. Kitchin, of Rcxboro, was ' nominated for Governor of the State of North . Carolina on i the Cist ballot, the venerable : Ashley Horn, of Johnson, hav ' ing withdrawn from the contest ! the ballot before; many of his ar- dent supporters going to Kithin, nominating him over the Hon. Locke Crnige, of Asbevilie. Of course this was a great disap pointment to the Craig contln ' gent, for the time being, but. ere this, the little flurry Is over, and the solid Democracy of the State will cheerfully rally to tbe.sup : port of Mr. Kitchin. Mr. Craig is assure of the nomination four ;" years hence as he lives, and his friends can get much comfort from this fact The nominee has p mm vmh AMrfrt. Todd seems to be behind on the subject ot appendicitis, I want to say - a word from personal ac quaintance. You don't have to go to Texas to find appendicitis. Just stop oft in East Tennessee. One month ago my thirteen year old son, was seized with what I thought was cramp colic, but as soon as a physicion could be sum moned, it was decided appendici tis, and by very careful atten tion the boy is now in a fair way to get well. ::, Less than a year ago one of our neighbors had an operation for appendicitis, who had been afflicted with the disease for more than nine years, so it comes to stay. And, Mr Todd, to my sorrow, it is no respecter of per sons. It don't look for your bank account but your family doctor soon will; and bear in mind that the poor are not immune from the disease. Very truly yours, J. R. Tbiplett, Johnson City, Tenn.
